Cross Country


Both XC Teams and Eight Individuals Earn All-Academic Honors

The men's and women's cross country teams along with eight athletes earned All-Academic honors from the United State Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the USTFCCCA this week. To qualify for the All-Academic award, all members of the team must average a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and have earned All-Region honors (top 35).

Five women earned individual honors: Allison Barnwell (CMC SO), Breanna Deutsch (SCR SR), Julia Rigby (SCR SR), Laura Sauvage (CMC SO) and Jennifer Tavé (SCR SR).  CMS was one of six teams nationally with as many as five women qualifiers.  The men had three individuals who qualified: Alex Mauro (CMC FR), Russell Page (CMC JR) and Brian Sutter (CMC JR).

The Athenas, the 2011 SCIAC and West Region Champions, had a cumulative GPA of 3.481 for their 26 runners through the fall semester while the Stags had a cumulative GPA of 3.396 for their 29 runners.
