CMS Awarded 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships

The NCAA announced Tuesday, February 15 that Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will host the 2012 NCAA Division III National Track & Field Championships on May 24-26.  The meet will be held in one of the nicest venues for track and field on the West Coast, Fritz B. Burns Stadium on the Claremont McKenna campus.

Meet Director John Goldhammer was elated with the NCAA's decision to hold the meet on the West Coast for the first time in its 38-year history.  The meet has only been held west of the Mississippi River three times previously, twice in Minnesota and once in Iowa.  It will feature nearly 800 competitors from over 150 Division III institutions from Maine to Washington and from California to Georgia.  The three-day meet is the largest single site NCAA Championships in Division III.

Planning to make this Championship a memorable one for spectators, coaches and athletes is underway.
