Rafer Dannenhauer runs because he is hungry.  Born to Jane Urban and Mark Dannenhauer, currently of Shutesbury, MA, he attended Amherst Regional High School and is now a freshman at Harvey Mudd College with an interest in Math and Computer Science.  He has been running cross country for six years during which time he finished first in the PUIAC conference meet, fourth in Western Massachusetts, 19th in the state and 97th at the Footlocker Northeast regional qualifier.  His personal record over five kilometers is 15:52, set at the 2008 Brown Invitational.  He was a two-year captain of both cross country and indoor track and was a member of the nationally top-ranked Amherst Varsity Ultimate Frisbee team for two years.  His running dream is to win the Boston Marathon.  Other school activities center around jazz trumpet studies.
