Scheulen Named SCIAC Athlete Of The Week

Florian Scheulen (JR, Encinitas) was selected SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the week of September 8-14.  He won the Redlands Invitational on September 13 with a time of 26:40 and led CMS to the team win. This was not only the first win of his career, it was also the first time he had even run number one for CMS. His time was only four seconds off his personal best, a great accomplishment for such a slow course. The meet included six of the eight SCIAC teams and the top 10 returners from last year’s SCIAC Championships (Scheulen is the seventh best returner). The win was especially sweet in that his freshman season ended at this meet when he broke his foot during the race.
