Volleyball (2000-current)
Dianna Graves is the Director of Academic Planning at Claremont
McKenna College. A credentialed teacher with 12 years of collegiate
coaching experience, Coach Graves is passionate about the
development of youth volleyball and in addition to her former
position as head coach for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, she has
been a member of the Club West Volleyball staff for the
past nine years. Her team captured a Junior Olympic
Invitational Championship title in 2005 and qualified for Junior
Nationals in 2006. Coach Graves transitioned from her
coaching role into that of recruiting coordinator in 2006. She has
helped dozens of Club West student-athletes secure positions in
college programs across the country in NCAA Divisions I-III and
NAIA. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education.
Coach Graves is married to Steve Graves, and they have a young
son and daughter. They reside in Claremont, California.
Athletic Program Director: Kurt
Vlasich (BA, Biology Pepperdine University) Head
Coach, CMS Volleyball; Director of Club West Volleyball
(2000-current)
Kurt Vlasich is pleased to act as the Athletic Program Director
for this year’s camp. Formerly a player at Pepperdine
University, Coach Vlasich is one of the most highly regarded Club
volleyball coaches in southern CA. In 2002, after a successful
career as a men’s coach, Coach Vlasich began coaching women
at Club West Volleyball. Following an excellent first season,
Vlasich decided to make the move to coaching women’s
volleyball on a full-time basis and in 2003, he was named Club
Director for the organization. In addition to his role as
Director, Vlasich has served as Head Coach for the 18-1 Elite team
at Club West for the past eight years. He has taken his teams
to Junior Olympics 7 of his 9 years, and finished with a Bronze
medal in 2005. Vlasich continues to develop curriculum and
technical training pedagogies for the entire Club West Volleyball
program. The Club recently sent seven teams of varying age
groups to Junior Olympics. In 2010, the 12-Elite team took home a
gold medal, while the 15-Elite finished with a silver medal.
Coach Vlasich is committed to junior player development of all
ages, and has helped Club West Volleyball become one of the top
rated clubs in Southern California, sending close to 100
student-athletes on to compete at the collegiate level.
Vlasich began coaching at CMS Volleyball in 2002 under Coach
Dianna Graves. Over the past nine seasons, Vlasich has helped
build a team that has made significant improvements from year to
year, and finished in 2010 with an overall record of 18-11 and a
3rd place finish in SCIAC. Vlasich has been an
important part of the CMS Volleyball Program’s day to day
activities, helping with recruiting, structuring practices, and
implementing game strategies. In December of 2010, he took on
the responsibility of interim Head Coach for CMS Women’s
Volleyball. Coach Vlasich will remain at the helm of the CMS
Volleyball program as they enter the 2011 season looking for a
SCIAC title.
Coach Vlasich is married to Cindi Vlasich, and they have a two
young daughters. They currently reside in Upland, California.
Additional Camp Staff Members:
The volleyball instructors at camp will include Coach Vlasich,
Coach Graves and current NCAA/NAIA collegiate players.
SAT prep classes will be overseen by Coach Graves and taught by
highly qualified, credentialed high school teachers.
College counseling sessions and other academic programming will
be coordinated by Coach Graves and fellow faculty/staff members of
the Claremont Colleges.
