Athenas Win 6th Street Rivalry
The No. 9 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team trounced No. 15 Pomon-Pitzer 9-0, in the battle for 5C supremacy.
For the eleventh time this season, the Athenas got out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep in doubles competition. Kristin Lim and Jessie Huang [pictured] set the pace with an 8-1 decision at number one.
CMS did not let up in singles competition. Wins at each court gave the Athenas a perfect score over the Sagehens. Huang gave a particularly strong effort at number two. The sophomore from Temple City gave up only one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Coach Max Retzlaff called it her “best mental performance this spring.”
This weekend, CMS will visit Cal Lutheran on Friday, and Chapman on Saturday.
