2009 Season Preview

As the 2009 season opens, the Athenas unveil a team made up of several new faces.  With only two seniors, Captains Elisa LaCava (Woodinville, WA) and Jessica Fox (Castlerock, CO), in the starting line-up, the Athenas will rely heavily upon the younger members of the team to remain a dominant force in the SCIAC conference.  Four freshman, Chole Cotton (Anchorage, AK), Caroline Daly (Seattle, WA), Stephanie Lee (San Diego, CA) and Sara Reed (New York, NY) join the Athenas looking to make an impact in both the singles and doubles.  Returners include sophomores, Hannah Kornfeld (Larkspur, CA) and Alle Hsu (Newport Coast, CA) and juniors Meredith Leyendecker (Dallas, TX) and Blair Winston (Potomac, MD).

The Athenas will open their season in the recently dedicated Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The new home of Stags and Athenas Tennis features 12  lighted courts - all with permanent seating - as well as an observation deck, team room, locker rooms and offices. The Athenas will host a competitive schedule throughout the season including a string of Division III challengers from all over nation in March.
