CMS Pulls Out a Tough 5-4 Win over Colorado College
CMS battled hard to finish off Colorado College 5-4 in a match
that was postponed two and a half hours due to rain earlier Sunday
morning. The Athenas made the best of gusty winds and
difficult playing conditions to take a 2-1 lead after doubles with
a win at number one by Jessica Fox (Sr. - Castlerock, CO) /
Hannah Kornfeld (So. – Larkspur, CA) and at number three by
Alle Hsu (So. – Newport Coast, CA) / Caroline Daly (Fr. -
Seattle, WA [pictured right]).
Jessica Fox at number 3 singles and Sara Reed (Fr. – New
York, NY) at number 4 singles closed out their matches in straight
sets. The most impressive comeback of the season took
place at number 1 singles when Elisa La Cava (Sr. –
Woodinville, WA) rallied from an 0-6, 1-4 deficit to win the
second set 7-6 (7-3). She went on to win the third set super
tie-break 11-9 after being down 2-9. Her victory takes her to
her sixth singles win of the season. The Athenas take on
Lewis & Clark College Monday, March 23 at 2:00pm and Gustavus
Adolphus College, Wednesday March 25 at 5:00pm.
