Dover Earns NCAA Elite 88 Award

Tessa Dover (SR, San Luis Obispo) earned her second NCAA Elite 88 Award for having the highest cumulative GPA among the competitors at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.

The ELITE 88, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 88 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 88 championships.

Dover is a Psychology/Legal Studies major at Claremont McKenna College and has yet to receive any grade other than an A in her seven semesters.  Dover was also awarded the Elite 88 Award last year prior to earning All-American honors at the Championships with her sixth place finish in the 200 backstroke.  She is a three-time SCIAC champion in the event and holds the CMS and SCIAC records.  She has also earned All-American honors as the leadoff on the 400 Medley Relay in 2010 and 2011.
