Watson, Hagen Earn Academic All-District Honors
Brittney Watson (SR, Sammamish, WA [right]) and Laura Hagen (SO, Bellevue, WA [left]) were both voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team which was announced this morning. Both players were on the Second Team in the College Division of District VIII. Watson was one of three midfielders on the team and Hagen one of three forwards. CMS was the only SCIAC team with players selected.
Watson is an Economics-Accounting major at Claremont McKenna College and was named First Team All-SCIAC and Second Team All-West Region in 2006 and 2007. She is sixth in scoring on the team this season with two goals and two assists. Hagen is an Economics major at Claremont McKenna. She has been the team's leading scorer each of her first two years. This year she leads the team in goals (13), assists (6) and points (32).
Both players easily qualifed for the award. Nominees must have better than a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must be at least a sophomore. The award is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is presented by ESPN The Magazine.
