Athenas Fall To Cross Street Rivals

CMS lost at Pomona-Pitzer 3-0 on Saturday in the latest addition to the Sixth Street rivalry. CMS fell to 9-5 overall, but remain in first place in SCIAC with a 6-2 record. The Sagehens are now 6-7-1 overall and fifth in SCIAC with a 4-4-1 record.

Honoring their seniors prior to the game inspired the Sagehens to play with more passion and intensity in the hard fought game. The Sagehens gained the momentum in the contest by scoring their first goal just five seconds prior to halftime as Angie Martinez received a through ball and finished in the left corner of the goal. The Hens added to their lead with goals just over a minute apart in the middle of the second half.  Camila Friedman-Gerlicz (JR, Santa Fe, NM) had eight saves in goal for CMS, but faced too many shots on goal.

CMS will next play at La Verne on Wednesday, October 22 at 4:00.
