Reimer And Romero Earn Region Coaching Awards
The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced their regional awards for Track & Field. CMS swept the coaching honors for the women in the West Region. Kendra Reimer was named West Region Women's Coach of the Year and Jason Romero was named West Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
In her first year at CMS, Reimer led the Athenas to a win at the SCIAC Championships which gave the team a share of the team title. The team finished ninth in the national team computer rankings and 19th in the national team dual meet rankings. CMS was the top ranked team from the West Region in both polls. CMS had five women compete at the NCAA Championships with two earning All-American honors.
In his first year coaching at CMS, Romero had two women, Reny Colton and Ellyn Erving, qualify for the NCAA Championships in both the long and triple jumps. Colton finished seventh in the long jump to earn All-American honors.
