Goldhammer Named West Region Men's Coach Of The Year

John Goldhammer was named the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year at the banquet preceding the NCAA Championships.  The Stags won their 18th consecutive SCIAC Championship in 2009 and more than doubled the score of the second place team.  The team scored in all 19 events with all four event areas contributing significantly to the win. The sprinter/hurdlers scored 57, the distance runners 52, the jumpers 45.3 and the throwers 80.  Goldhammer coached 10 SCIAC Champions this season including triple champion Jeff Clark (SR, Los Altos), the 2009 SCIAC Athlete of the Year.  10 athletes achieved NCAA qualifying marks in 12 events with three athletes competing at the NCAA Championships and Taylor Berliant (SO, Sudbury, MA) earning All-American honors.
