Taylor focused on the Hammer Throw/Shot Put combination as a Freshman, breaking the Freshman records in both events. His 49'11" Shot Put mark came on his 5^th throw at the SCIAC Championships to win the event by a mere 1 centimeter over teammate Grant Heffernan. He also placed 3^rd in the Hammer with a throw of 158'8" but two weeks later threw 50.70 meters to surpass Bert Landry's 2001 mark of 50.68' by 2 centimeters. This placed him at 12^th on the CMS All-Time list.

Taylor comes to Claremont via Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury, Massachusetts. He has had a terrific Fall of training and is in shape to substantially increase his performances in the Hammer Throw and Shot Put as well as make his debut in the Javelin Throw this Spring. Taylor plans to qualify for the NCAA Championship in at least the Hammer Throw.
