A top hurdle recruit out of high school, Dan re-pulled his hamstring early in his Freshman year, an injury that prevented him from competing during the 2008 season. The 2009 season promises to be a good one for the 6'2", 180 lb Olmsted who will focus on the 400 Intermediate Hurdles. 

In high school, Dan competed for Buena High School in Ventura, California.
