Stags Continue Strong SCIAC Play In Win At La Verne

The men's soccer team scored twice in the final 11 minutes of the first half to break a 1-1 tie and went on to gain a road victory over La Verne 4-1.  CMS is now 3-2 overall and 3-0 in SCIAC play.  The Stags will take on the other 3-0 team, Cal Lutheran, this Saturday at 11:00 on their home pitch, Pritzlaff Field, at 11:00.

Griffin Halpern (SR, San Diego [pictured]) put the Stags on the board first with a ninth minute goal off an assist from AnGee Baldini (SR, Seattle, WA).  La Verne was able to counter with a fine individual effort about 20 minutes later.  CMS broke open the game with their next two goals.  Tomislav Zbozinek (SO, Paradise Valley, AZ) buried a penalty kick in the 40th minute and Steve Farenbaugh (SR, Reseda) added another six minutes later.  Max Lipset (SR, St. Paul, MN) added his team-leading seventh goal early in the second half for the final margin.  Alex Price (JR, Denver, CO) played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves.
